Derrick is a member of Arkansas Forestry Association, Arkansas Timber Producers Association (Board of Directors), Registered Forester Program, National Certified Forester Program, Forest Resources Association, and Farm Bureau County Board of Directors\Forestry Division. He has been in the timber procurement business since 1995 and in 2006 was named "Forester of the Year" in Arkansas. He has purchased timber from hundreds of private landowners and the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission, White River National Wildlife Refuge, and other timber companies.
